The conference dinner will take place on Saturday, 2nd July at 8.00pm in the Belmont Room, on the first floor of the historic Betty’s Tea Rooms on St Helen’s Square. The dinner will take place after the keynote from Dr Matthew Bevis at the university, with time left for the delegates to get changed.
The Belmont Room was designed by the same designers who created the art deco interior of the Queen Mary cruise liner. The founder of Betty’s, Frank Belmont, sailed on the cruiser’s maiden voyage in 1936. So for some snazzy wooden panelling and Titanic vibe (without any rocking of the boat, although drinks can be had on rocks), e-mail the organisers to join the delegates and keynotes at the conference dinner.
The hot buffet will include Bouef Bourguignon, Chicken Schnitzel, Haddock, Salmon and Prawn Gratin, and Aubergine Gratin. There will also be vegan options.
To find Betty’s from the campus, take bus 44 or 66 to town. Leave on the main Piccadilly stop. Continue up Piccadilly and straight through the market. At the top end, continue straight to Davygate – Betty’s will be on your left at the top end of Davygate on St Helen’s Square.
